About the founder and producer for The Delta Page.
Hi there friends! My name is Andrew Oster and welcome to The Delta Page. Ever since I was a kid, I innately knew there was something more to this world. I didn’t always follow those feelings though. I pursued more of a “traditional" path in life, playing sports, getting good grades, going away to school, getting a degree in Chemical Engineering, and then searching for a career. It wasn’t until after I graduated college in 2008, where those feelings of missing something more were too strong to ignore, and I started following my heart and intuition. I jumped around the country a little bit, eventually landing in San Diego in 2010, but I kept scratching this deep itch to find that more. That meaning of life. The secrets of Universe.
I searched far and wide for my answer. I was in corners of libraries and corners of the internet, researching and consuming anything that felt like the next step in my path. There came a point in my search when I realized that the secrets of the Universe were the same secrets of myself, so I took the search inward. That was in 2013. Years of walking the path, loosing the path, and the trials and tribulations of life followed. Sometimes we must get lost so we can get found, in a way, yet it always makes us wiser and stronger. In December of 2016, I found the love of my life and I was back on track!
I always enjoyed creative expression in forms like writing, poetry, sports (yes, it is a creative outlet), music, and art. I’m not that skilled at art or music (I’m a decent percussionist, so I can still jam), so writing, poetry, and physical activities feel like better outlets to me. With that in mind, poetry offerings coming soon.
I wanted to give back to the world, to offer something of my gifts to the world. In October of 2017 while listening to sports talk radio, I had this vision for a new way to cover and look at sports. I was turned-off by how negative the content and the hosts can be at times. I seriously grumbled aloud, "Why doesn't anyone cover the uplifting and positive aspects of sports?". Right then, an answer came from my inner voice, "Why don't you?". It struck me like a jolt of electricity. Thus, New Light Sports was conceived.
It was new, it was exciting, and it was fun. I love watching sports from the perspective of self-expression, because that what athletics are, ultimately. I love exposing all the deeper and meaningful ways that sports relate to our societies and the ways that sport gives so many people a chance to express themselves, to represent themselves, to the world. It was great. But it was incomplete. That’s because I was offering my passions, not my gifts. Sports are a passion of mine, but my gifts extend beyond that realm. My whole life I’ve been interested in so many various fields and I’ve researched and studied them. “Jack of all trades, master of none” the old saying goes. I completely disagree.
I would say I am an extremely well-rounded in my large knowledge-base. I am an excellent researcher with a knack for discerning the meaningful from the muck. My university studies allow me the technical background to understand, interpret, and communicate the sciences especially anything environmental and alternative-energy related, as that was my speciality. My decade-plus, and continuing, of searching for the truths of life and metaphysical matters allow me to integrate this knowledge into my content. My devotion to covering the positive and uplifting aspects of the events, themes, and stories that shape our times remains the same as it did on that October 2017 morning when I deeply felt a change was needed in the media.
The Delta Page is that change. A change towards positive, empowering, solution-based, deeply-insightful coverage of our changing times. I am that change. I want you to consume media that makes you feel solid, informed, and enlightened with new perspectives. I want you feeling better off for having come here. And you, who supports, consumes, and engages with thoughtful, positive media is that change as well. I invite you to get involved and get active. Let’s do this.
With gratitude and love,
Andrew
